Mark your interests
I officially declare today as "Mark your Interests" day. Just write down all your interests and find out which one have you been neglecting. Then, pick one or two of your greatest interests and set out to be great in them after 5 years. So, how do you achieve this greatness? As they say, "Be consistent." Use all the shortcuts you can. Here's one of those articles that give you a high after reading them. But carry it out and you may be having much fun years down the road from your interests. I find the world filled with everything that can pique the interest of humans. Even those dull and boring research papers you have to go through sometimes. Everyone's trying to make their work interesting to others. Some do it better by presenting it well. Some do it worse by throwing out all the jargon you can get. Anyway, I set out from today to be an adequate piano player and music performer + composer in 5 years. So, what's yours? |

Beautiful Flash Games
I noticed that I'm not much of a blogger if I didn't blog. So, here's my contribution to the large network of people who just seems to have so much to talk about. http://ferryhalim.com/orisinal/These games are excellent. I haven't gotten through all of them yet but what I have test played are really some of the most unique flash games that I have come across yet. So, if you've got some time to kill, try these. :) |

The movie industry business model challenged
An interesting read if you're interested in how the whole movie industry makes money and how it's gonna change. First time I realised that movies don't make money from box office ticket sales. link |

Multitasking: Good or Bad
Multitasking is something that we live with everyday. Some of us compulsively move from one source of information to another, many times just skimming through most info we look through in this way without much thought. Anyway, here's a great article on the attention divide of people today. He explains it better than I ever will because I'm now multitasking and reading his article instead of thinking. LinkI don't think I'll give up multitasking though. All this debate just goes to show that we have to focus to be effective. |

Computer Power Supply Unit Woes
Recently, the Power Supply Unit (AC DC converter) on my computer blew. The thing got fried with a loud pop and a spark. I never knew power supplies could be so dangerous. Tried to open the Power Supply unit and fix it. Bad mistake. Got a good jolt out of it. Luckily my motherboard and the rest of my computer weren't damaged. Anyway, I picked up a good brand name power supply for around 90 bucks. An extra 20 bucks went to the taxi fare. >_< While trying to find a good power supply to buy, I stumbled across this article. Power Supplies - The Shocking TruthA good read if you don't want what happened to me to happen to you. If you got a chepo power supply that came with the case... I suggest you replace it before it happens to you. |

The Five Factor Personality Test
Lufang did this and I wanted to compare a bit and see. ;P It's pretty accurate like all kinds of personality tests I have taken. | Your Five Factor Personality Profile | Extroversion:
You have medium extroversion. You're not the life of the party, but you do show up for the party. Sometimes you are full of energy and open to new social experiences. But you also need to hibernate and enjoy your "down time."
Conscientiousness:
You have high conscientiousness. Intelligent and reliable, you tend to succeed in life. Most things in your life are organized and planned well. But you borderline on being a total perfectionist.
Agreeableness:
You have medium agreeableness. You're generally a friendly and trusting person. But you also have a healthy dose of cynicism. You get along well with others, as long as they play fair.
Neuroticism:
You have low neuroticism. You are very emotionally stable and mentally together. Only the greatest setbacks upset you, and you bounce back quickly. Overall, you are typically calm and relaxed - making others feel secure.
Openness to experience:
Your openness to new experiences is high. In life, you tend to be an early adopter of all new things and ideas. You'll try almost anything interesting, and you're constantly pushing your own limits. A great connoisseir of art and beauty, you can find the positive side of almost anything. | |

Game Sex
I realize I haven't talked about this very human topic on my blog yet. Well, I'm not so much gonna talk about it as to link you to the state of sex in games. There is a world where people peddle virtual sex and escort services for virtual money that can be sold in the free market for real money. Hmm. Not unlike our real world. Sex and Economics on "The Escapist"There are links in the article that will link you to certain game sex sites - Virtual escort services and virtual kinky toys stores mainly for the MMOG "Second Life". Hmmm. Also, I never knew MMOEGs existed - Story on Massively Multiplayer Online Erotic Games.*Warning, the below link is not safe for work*The game, Sociolotron, mentioned on the list stands out especially for being filled with all kinds of wicked things that no normal mainstream MMO will try to emulate. The funny thing is that looking at the features of Sociolotron, I feel a sense of intrigue and excitement. The death part is especially well done - you go to hell and can become a demon. And they don't stop racism and oppression and prostitution... they have systems in place for achieving all those. |
